More about the Breathwork Practice
Breathwork is an ancient technique that clears stuck energy and helps you connect with your center. It's incredibly simple and can be learned in about two minutes. Two very powerful, jam packed minutes. For something so seemingly simple, the results can be profound and even transformative.
Over the years, many of us have adopted dysfunctional breathing patterns with most of the breath coming in to the upper chest. This results in overactivation of the sympathetic nervous system, triggering our body's 'fight or flight' response. In the long term, this can lead to decreased immune response, weight gain, mood swings, a sense of disconnection, and increased anxiety or stress.
Physiologically, the practice helps repair the breathing mechanism and activates the parasympathetic nervous system. By fully oxygenating the body, it signals the brain that it's safe. The brain is then able to achieve a state of deep relaxation. In this state, long repressed emotions may be released and you may access parts of yourself that have been long neglected. After just one session, many people report an increased sense of well-being, deep connection with self, and awareness of being part of something much greater than themselves.
As with any healing process, there may be some initial resistance or discomfort. After all, we're working to undo old patterns and release emotions that may have been dictating behavior for years–it's hard work! That said, Breathwork is safe, different for everyone and is best explored through direct experience. So come join us!
